National Roles & Positions

The National Executive Committee

The National Executive Committee are responsible for implementing the decisions that have made at CWU General and Special General Conference and for the general management and control of the Union. The committee is elected biannually and is made up of the following members:

  • President – (this position is elected as chair from either the Postal or Telecoms and Financial Services Constituency. The President and Vice President positions are rotated annually)
  • Vice President  – (this position is elected as chair from either the Postal or Telecoms and Financial Services Constituency. The President and Vice President position is rotated annually)
  • 11 lay members from the postal constituency.  At least 2 of the 11 lay members must be women and 1 lay member must be BAME  (all of whom sit on the postal Industrial Executive)
  • 2 lay members from the Postal Constituency of whom one must be a woman  (These positions DO NOT sit on the postal Industrial Executive)
  • 8 Lay members from the Telecom and Financial Services Constituency. At least 2 of the 8 lay members must be women and 1 lay member must be BAME
  • 2 Lay members from the Telecom and Financial Services Constituency, of whom one must be a woman (These positions DO NOT sit on the Telecoms and Financial Services Industrial Executive)
  • 2 Lay Young Workers members (1 member from the postal constituency and 1 member from the Telecom and Financial Constituency)
  • 1 lay Retired member
  • 8 lay Equality members (1 lay member from each of the Postal and TFS constituencies for each of the following equality strands: Women, LGBT+, BAME, Disability)

Postal Executive (PE)

The National Postal Executive are responsible for implementing the decisions that have made at CWU Industrial Postal Conference and for occupational and conditions of service issues for all Postal and related employers where the Union is recognised.

The Postal Executive is made up of the following members:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • 2 members from the PTS Grades
  • 15 members from the Postal Grades
  • Deputy General Secretary (Postal) and
  • Postal Assistant Secretaries

 

 

Telecoms and Financial Services Executive (T&FSE)

The National Telecoms and Financial Services Executive are responsible for implementing the decisions that have made at CWU Industrial Conference and for occupational and conditions of service issues for all telecommunications, information technology financial services and related employers where the Union is recognised.

The Telecoms and Financial Services Executive is made up of the following members:

  • Chair
  • Vice chair
  • 16 lay members from the Telecoms and Financial Services Constituency
  • Deputy General Secretary (T&FS) and
  • The Assistant Secretaries who deal with Telecoms and Financial Services issues
